Explore the Extravagant Eighties
The decade when hand knits, and hair, went big. Sirdar designs celebrated everything from late Disco to early New Romantics, eye-popping colours and textured yarn innovations. Go back to the eighties to find your favourite.

New Romantics
The eighties club scene created the New Romantics, a subculture that defined a flamboyant androgenous look that took inspiration from glam rock and the late 18th and early 19th Century.
Sirdar created patterns in romantic pastel shades that juxtaposed masculine boxy shapes with pretty feminine details.

Mohair
Understated wasn’t a concept the eighties understood. Bigger was definitely better and nothing went better with a massive perm than an oversized mohair jumper.
80’s Sirdar designs made use of this luxurious fluffy fibre in super bright colours and large geometric shapes.
